It is a tricky question, but it’s an easy one to answer.
The Annabelle franchise is beloved worldwide, but its star, the titular woman, has never won an Oscar for Best Actress.
“It’s one of those movies that people just don’t want to see, and it’s one where it’s not a bad movie, but a bad sequel,” said Michael Mann, who directed Annabel, starring Felicity Huffman, in 2021, which is based on the first book in the series, The Annabelles.
Mann has been a fan of Annabel since childhood.
“I think there are certain things in her that people are like, ‘Oh, I don’t get it, she’s just a woman.’
I think it’s a wonderful movie, and people have really enjoyed it.”
Mankiewicz has been cast as the lead in Annabel’s third movie, The Big Sick, which stars Melissa McCarthy and Jason Segel.
He has not had a leading role since the 2011 comedy All in the Family, and Mann said the film will be an unexpected and welcome surprise.
“We’re looking forward to seeing this movie, because I think we’ve always wanted to make a big tentpole film,” Mann said.
As for the movie’s story, it will center on a former soldier named Jack (McCarthy), who returns home after serving in Iraq to start a family.
In 2021 in Film, Mann said he is excited about the idea of a “family-friendly” movie, where a mother will raise children in a military-style environment.
The family will include a younger brother and sister.
“We are looking forward with all of our hearts to bringing Annabel to the screen,” Mann told The Wall St. Journal.
“A movie that’s family-friendly is a big part of my life.
That’s why we’re excited.”
The film’s producers are looking for people who have worked on a big-budget blockbuster, and that includes people with a film background, he said.
“There’s an element of the story that’s very familiar to the audiences we have now.
But, we are not trying to recreate those movies, because we have a very different approach.
We are trying to do something different.”
The Annabellles is set for release on Nov. 17, 2021.
